EXPERIENCE THE IMPACT OF OUR SERVICE & SISTERHOOD
The Richland County Alumnae Chapter proudly serves the community through impactful programs, initiatives, and events guided by the Five-Point Programmatic Thrust of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Through educational workshops, community service projects, advocacy efforts, scholarships, and cultural programming, we strive to create meaningful opportunities that uplift, empower, and strengthen the communities we serve.
​These programs and events are open to the public, and we welcome individuals, families, and community partners to join us in making a lasting impact throughout Richland, Lexington, Newberry, and Fairfield County and beyond.
SIGNATURE PROGRAMS & EVENTS
The award-winning Oratorical Contest is an annual event, which provides middle school students in the service area the opportunity to enhance their public speaking skills, promote self-confidence, aid in educational enrichment, and facilitate character building.
Hosted annually each spring, the Black Women and Girls Conference is a half-day workshop focused on various topics related to self-awareness, empowerment, and financial literacy.​
Our Delta GEMS program provides tools that enable girls within our service area the ability to sharpen and enhance their skills so that they will be better equipped to achieve high levels of academic success. This program creates compassionate, caring, and community minded young women by actively involving them in service learning and community service opportunities.
May Week
This is a period in May of each year when scholastic achievements, educational opportunities and encouragement of higher scholarship is recognized. During the annual May week program, the Richland County Alumnae chapter awards scholarships to deserving high school and collegiate students and recognizes the participation of Delta GEMS participants.
The Red Dress Luncheon event falls under our Program Planning and Development initiative of the Five-Point Programmatic Thrust. It serves as an opportunity to educate and bring awareness to heart disease, strokes, and health crises plaguing our communities. Each February, we kick off “Healthy Heart Month” by growing this initiative through collaborations with local organizations and city-wide programs to extend our celebration.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
International Day of Service
Each April, RCA Deltas volunteer at the South Carolina State Fairgrounds to register over 1000 students from across the state for Global Education Day. This event is in conjunction with the annual Columbia International Festival. Friday is set aside to educate young people about global cultures, geography, and to introduce them to their neighbors who are from 100 countries.

Social Action
Under the auspices of the National Social Action Commission, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and the Richland County Alumnae Chapter continues to institute activities that:
