ABOUT RCA'S SCHOLARSHIPS
RED DIAMOND SCHOLARSHIP GALA
The Scholarship Gala has been RCA’s leading fundraising tool since the Chapter’s inception. In December 1995, the inaugural RCA Holiday Gala was held at the Joe E. Mann Center on the military base, Fort Jackson, SC. In 1996, the Gala’s date moved to June to allow patrons to support other holiday events. Twenty-five years later, the gala is now known as the Red Diamond Scholarship Gala.
From 1997 until now, the brand recognition has increased, quickly becoming a “hot” ticket for guests across the state and country. The success of the gala is tantamount to the achievement of the Chapter’s goals. Raising hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years, the Gala has helped fund the education of hundreds of deserving students in the Chapter’s service area by distributing over $30,000 in annual scholarships.
LITTLE MISS RED & WHITE PAGEANT — JABBERWOCK
RCA’s first Little Miss Red and White Pageant was orchestrated in April of 1998. The pageant's purpose was to celebrate the courage, strength, creativity, and achievements of young ladies in Richland, Lexington, Fairfield, and Newberry counties. During pageant season, each contestant participates in enrichment workshops, community service projects, and fundraising activities that raise funds for the Chapter’s community outreach efforts and scholarships. On pageant day, contestants showcase their self-confidence through an opening dance routine, their poise during the casual wear and formal wear competition, their talents during the talent competition, and their charming personalities during the question-and-answer session.
In December 2017, the dedicated members of the Little Miss Red and White Pageant Committee raised over $10,000 in scholarships. The name of the pageant changed to Jabberwock in 2019, and the committee was able to raise over $15,000 to assist with the annual scholarships awarded by the Chapter.
