Red Diamond Scholarship Gala
Gala History:
The Richland County Alumnae Chapter (RCA), Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, hosts an annual fundraiser known as the Red Diamond Scholarship Gala during the month of June. The year our annual signature event will be held Saturday, June 3, 2023 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. The inaugural scholarship gala, known as RCA Holiday Gala, was held in December 1995. Following the success of the first gala, RCA set out on a purpose to grow our community outreach and impact. Today, the Red Diamond Scholarship Gala is the chapter’s signature fundraising event. With the support of our community partners, friends and family, RCA has awarded nearly $250,000 to deserving high school seniors and college students.
Gala Purpose:
What started as a Holiday Gala in December of 1995 has morphed into a much anticipated annual gala driven by purpose. Members of Richland County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. were driven by their mission to raise funds for scholarships and to support the programs, projects, and causes in the communities we serve.

The Covid-19 Pandemic threatened to disrupt fundraising efforts from 2020 to 2022, but with ingenuity and a focused mission on helping deserving students in our service areas, RCA created a virtual gala experience like no other. The Virtual Red Diamond Scholarship Gala raised $20,000 in funds allowing the chapter to award $21,250 in scholarships for 2021.
As we continue to serve our community, the chapter will again host a formal Red Diamond Scholarship Gala Saturday, June 15, 2024, from 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.
